Sliced biltong and droëwors on butcher's paper over a damson scarf, ready for match day

Biltong for match day: a Twickenham guide

November is a big month for rugby. England play at Twickenham on 8, 14 and 21 November. South Africa play Italy on 7 November, France in Paris on 13 November and Ireland in Dublin on 21 November. Then all twelve teams, South Africa included, come to Twickenham for the finals weekend, 27 to 29 November.

Whether you're in the stand, at the pub or on the sofa, here's what to bring and how much.

What travels best

Droëwors is the easiest thing to take to a match. It's a thin dried beef sausage that snaps clean, so there's no knife and no mess, and a pack fits a coat pocket.

Stokkies are biltong cut into thin strips before drying, so they're firmer and chewier than slices. Open a pack on the pub table and it goes round.

Sliced biltong is the one for sharing. Tip the pack onto a board or a plate and let people help themselves.

How much to buy

As a rough guide, a 125g pack does two people for a match, with a bit left over. For four to six people watching at home, a 400g pack of biltong and one of droëwors covers it.

That's what the Matchday Bundle is: 400g of biltong and 400g of droëwors, for £52.95.

Watching at home

Put it on a board with sharp cheese, pickled onions and good bread, and half-time is sorted. There are more ideas in four ways to eat biltong.

At the pub

Stokkies and a pint. That's the whole tip.
